Kids Reading Challenges

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The Library offers a 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program, encouraging all Wixom families and caregivers to read 1000 books with their young children before they enter kindergarten. Studies have shown that families who start reading aloud to their children at birth help strengthen their language skills and build their vocabulary. There will be prizes for kids when they read 100, 500, 800 and 1000 books. They can also receive a special sticker for every 100 books read. Just register your child on our Beanstack site and the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program will appear as a program as soon as you sign in! You can register and track your child’s reading here.
